About Really Bad Apps
“The street finds its own uses for things.”
— William Gibson
We started Really Bad Apps in 2018 because we were tired of apps that felt like they were designed by committee in a boardroom. Six years later, we’re still just three people—two on most days—who believe mobile apps should do more than harvest data and serve ads. We make apps we actually want to use—apps that respect your intelligence and your privacy.
Why “Really Bad Apps”? The name is our irreverent nod to traditional marketing. We don’t do corporate hype or paid influencer campaigns. We believe great apps spread the old-fashioned way—through genuine enthusiasm, friend to friend, user to user. If our apps are worth using, you’ll tell someone about them. That’s the only marketing that matters.
Thousands of people use our apps daily, tens of thousands monthly. Not because we bought ads or paid influencers, but because someone they trusted said “hey, try this.” That’s exactly how we want it.
Our current product lineup includes two flagship applications. Podcast Guru is an elegant and full-featured podcast player available for both Android and iOS, offering users a seamless listening experience across platforms. PhotoStacks is our iOS application that revolutionizes photo organization through unique gesture-based album management.
We’re a tiny team of developers and designers from around the world who approach app development more like technology artists than traditional software engineers. This artistic mindset allows us to craft experiences that are not just functional, but genuinely delightful to use. Our international perspective and minuscule team size enable us to move quickly, iterate thoughtfully, and maintain a clear creative vision across all our projects.
We’re not scaling. We’re not pivoting. We’re not disrupting. We’re just three people making apps that don’t suck. If you like what we do, tell a friend. If you don’t, that’s cool too.
You can find us lurking on X if you’re into that sort of thing.
